Constanta Hrana : Food preparation, presentation, and taste is simple, sincere, and generally hearty. With minimal use of spices, the food is filling and always quite fresh. Food and drink is prepared from what is on-hand with kindly prepared left-overs being served as often as original meals. Fresh bread, cheese, and milk every day is always available. Simple but luscious and beautiful cakes and pastries are a delight. Water is served as either 'plain' or 'gas'. Wine and tzuica is found in most all homes. The wine is often made from grapes grown right in the front yard and kept in a cask in the home. Tzuica simply sears and burns all the way down but it has a strong, earthy, and overwhelming taste that complements those who serve it. Food always looks fresh, has brillant and descript color, and is always appreciated after a long day when served by gracious hosts.

Dogs & Loos : Many dogs run free in the Constanta area. There are an assortment of reasons for this with the main reason being simply that there are too many dogs with too few masters and owners. In the last few years, a nationwide effort has been made to sterilize, disinfestate, give rabies vaccinations, and tag stray dogs. Dogs are tagged in the ear. Most of the dogs are docile, friendly, and non-threatening. The majority of homes and businesses in Romania have indoor flushing toilets. Many outdoor gravity toilets remain, however, and always make for topical and interesting conversation and, not the least, present a challenge to unaccustomed users.
